FreedomBox is an operating system (a pure blend of Debian) designed to run your personal server on small, cheap single board computers – effectively hosting your digital life at home.
The logo leans on the project values and goals via a symbol that combines a butterfly shape and an isometric box, representing the freedom that anybody can breathe into a small piece of hardware.
Its logotype is set in "Days One", and not only kerned for a better fit (of course), but also with a rounded "F" that aligns the type with the overall rounded style of the logo and the other capital letter "B" in the name.
The project received an identity manual containing the usual info about spacing, the house font ("Lato", SIL), color palette, reminders of what to avoid doing to logos, and a rough hint to try going for high-key visuals whenever possible.
The website also features a nice gimmic: it has a subtle CSS animation bringing a bit of life the logo.
Wait for it.
Wait.
:) There. It is rare and hardly detectable, but a delight once you take notice the first time.
The work done for the project also includes some UI proposals, showcasing the concept of a card based UI.
